Water crisis- in India and its majors

Apr 12, 2019 by bpsatharva

Water is one of the most precious resources on the planet. More than 1 billion people do not have acces to a source of clean drinking water, and around 3 billion experience water scarcity at least one month per year.

there is a water crisis today. But the crisis is not about having too little water to satisfy our needs. It is a crisis of managing water so badly that billions of people- and the environment suffer badly.''    WORLD WATER VISION REPORT

*According to the world bank India has the second largest pollution in the world. India has taken significant steps to reduce poverty but the number of people who are getting middle- income, withe a combined rate of over 52% of both rural and urban poor.
* Regardless of improvements to drinking water, many other water

sources are contaminated with both bio and chemical pollutants, and over

21% of the country's diseases are water-related. Furthermore, only 33% of the country has access to traditional sanitation.

SOME PROJECTS IN INDIA TO CLEAN WATER -

* TATA  WATER MISSION-  Tata Water Mission (TWM) is a programme initiated by Tata Trusts to tackle the water crisis with a multi-pronged approach. The three core areas supported by the programme are:              https://www.tatatrusts.org/sec...

1- Technology innovations

2-Improved service delivery through sustainable and integrated development through water conservation and water supply

3-Behavioural change communication (BCC) models

* NAMAMI GANGE- NATION MISSION TO CLEAN GANGA-        http://mowr.gov.in/schemes-pro...

1- ‘Namami Gange Programme’, is an Integrated Conservation Mission, approved as ‘Flagship Programme’ by the Union Government in June 2014 with budget outlay of Rs.20,000 Crore to accomplish the twin objectives of effective abatement of pollution, conservation and rejuvenation of National River Ganga.

2- Main pillers of Namai gange programe are-

      Sewerage Treatment Infrastructure

      River - Front Development

     River- Surface cleaning

     Bio- Diversity

     Afforstation

     Public Awareness

     Ganga gram

* NEW DELHI: The central government will launch six pilot projects for clean drinking water supply in villages under 'swajal project; one each in UP, BIHAR, RAJASTHAN, MAHARASTHRA and etc. The project will involve locals in civil work and maintenace of the system.

- While the world's population tripled in the 20th century, the use of renewable water resources has grown six- fold, the world population will increase by another 40 to 50 %. This population growth- coupled with industrialization and uribanization- will result in an incresing demand for water and will have serious consequences on the enviroment.

AT THE I WOULD LIKE TO CONCLUDE THAT, FOR FUTURE WE HAVE TO SAVE WATER OTHERWISE WE CAN'T SAVE ANY LIFE.
