Lately, German's policy on refugees is being discussed a lot. Although public opinion still seems to be on Angela Merkel's side, there are loud voices criticizing the chancellor's actions.
There is a constant stream of unregistered refugees entering Germany. People are afraid of the high numbers of refugees.
On one hand, some people are displeased because they have a fear which has been stroked by things like the current Paris attacks. Can there be more terrorists infiltrating Europe as refugees?
But we need to be careful about reducing terrorists and refugees on the same denominator. Nearly every refugee is not disapproving us but is very thankful for our help and wants to integrate himself by learning our language and working as soon as he can.
In the beginning most of the refugees will need social support and will not be immediately employable. But if we look forward into the future of our aging population with one of the lowest birthrates in the world, industry will definitely welcome them.
Another point people argue about is Germany's capacity. What is it? How long will it take until we will reach it? Or have we already come up to our limit? The chancellor makes clear that we can't set a limit to refugee-numbers, but we need to think about how to receive and distribute the refugees Europe-wide.
I agree on this statement. I consider it to be very difficult to handle such a big stream of people. We can't just say that we won't help anymore, just because our capacity is reached. We need to find a way to give those a hand who search for help, e.g. through asylum. That's why I am against closing the borders like other countries do, just securing them.
The policy should definitly get improved, the situation seems chaotic and sometimes quite unclear, but we should not forget how big of a challenge it really is to deal with the constant influx of refugees, who are in plight.

I also agree with you. You have many points in your blog and that's really good.

That's correct, maybe other countrys must also open their borders and must help Germany to absorb this really big number of refugees. They must be registered that Germany has no chance to help all these poor people alone.
Dear Alina,
Simone and I agree with you! We also think that many people have fear, but this is no solution and we have to difference terrorists and refugees. Refugees can be good for a country because they bring an other culture and workers to us. But we can't take all of them and we have to prove as fast as possible which of this people really are in need to cope with this big challenge.
A big challenge, indeed. I completely agree with you and hope that this logistical challenge works and that people who need hope to live a better and peaceful life get a chance
